  • There are three ways to add the controller to the account:
    • Scan Barcode
    • Wired setup
    • Wireless setup

However, before continuing, the controller needs to be connected to the Internet network. To do that, you can either select

  • Wired setup
  • Wireless setup

Connecting the Controller to the Internet

Wired setup

Connect the controller to the power outlet using the power adapter included in the box as shown on the app screen and tap on Next

  8.png

Connect the controller to the router using the Ethernet cable on the box. To ensure that the controller can be found on the network, it must be connected to the main router/modem, then tap on Next

  9.png

Once the controller has been found in the network, you will get a confirmation message

Tap on the Next button and you will be redirected to the main Dashboard of the app, which means you're ready to start using the MiOS app

You will need to follow the on-screen instructions to connect the controller to your local WiFi Network:

  • Go to your phone's Settings menu, make sure to leave the MiOS app open in the background
  • Go to the WiFi Settings on your phone and search for the controller's WiFi network. You will see a network named wifi_SerialNumber (e.g wifi_9XXXXXXX)
  • Tap on that network and use the password located on the label at the bottom of the controller with the name WIFI
  • Once connected, return to the MiOS app to continue with the configuration

  • On the MiOS app, you will see the list of available networks in your location, select yours and enter the wifi password of your local network, then tap on Connect
13.png 14.png
  • Once the controller has been successfully connected to WiFi, you will get a confirmation message

Tap on the Next button and you will be redirected to the main Dashboard of the app, which means you're ready to start using the MiOS app

Scan Barcode

This option is intended to add the controller to the account, however, it will not connect the controller to the internet. You can use this option when the controller has been connected hardwired to the internet router

  • Tap on Scan Barcode
  • Allow the app access permission to the phone camera
  • Flip over the controller and you will find the label with the controller's information (serial number, MAC address, Wifi passkey, and SSID name) point the phone's camera to the Barcode on the controller, and make sure that you have centered the barcode on the phone's screen
15.png 16.png

In case the phone's camera fails to read the Barcode or it's taking too long to read, you can tap on Add Manually and you will see this screen, where you can manually add the controller's Serial Number and MAC Address

  17.png

Once the Barcode is successfully read or the information is added correctly, you will get a confirmation message, then tap on Next

  10.png

You will be prompted to configure the location on your account and once saved, you can start adding devices

Troubleshooting Guide

The Controller fails to be found in the wired network

This scenario could happen when the hardwire connection runs over a different subnet, the controller is connected to a switch, or an additional network device that differs from the Wifi settings, and thus the app fails to find the controller in the same network.

You will see this screen in the app when this happens

  20.png

Tap on Scan Barcode and follow these instructions

The controller cannot connect to the WiFi network

This could happen when the WiFi signal is not strong enough, or there may be a typo in the passkey/password of the network

In that case, you will see a message like this:

  21.png

If you're entirely sure that the passkey/password is correct, you can tap Retry

If you have an additional network that you want to try, you can tap on Another Network and select another SSID

Now, if you notice that the LED on the controller changed from blinking Orange to solid Blue, you may tap on the LED is Blue button and you will be prompted to add the controller's Serial Number and MAC Address found in the back label of the unit

  22.png

Finally, you will get a confirmation message and you can start using your controller with the MiOS app

Controller Offline message when added via Scan Barcode

If you add the controller using this option and the app shows this error message

Double-check that the controller is connected through the Ethernet cable to the router, hard-close the app, and open it again, at this point, you should be able to see the controller online and you can start adding devices and creating Meshbots
